Letting women die? Rep. Pitts: Are you nuts?

(This is NUTS. And we'll deliver one nut to Rep. Pitts for each signature to make that point) Okay, so just when you thought Republicans couldn't get more insane on the abortion front... here comes a new bill (HR 358). One that would allow hospitals to refuse emergency abortions -- even if it means DEATH for the woman. Click here to learn more and take action

"Tell Congress: Fight the NRA" - Left Action & CREDO launch first joint action

Left Action is proud to announce its first joint action with our long-time friend, CREDO Action. The action is in strong support of the efforts of Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy and others to institute sensible gun control reform -- specifically, a reinstatement of the ban on high-capacity magazines (i.e., clips with more than 10 rounds). "In light of the horrific events in Arizona, you would think that sensible gun control legislation would be at the top of the agenda for all of our elected officials. The shooter, Jared Lee Loughner, was able to fire off 31 rounds from a single clip, dramatically increasing the amount of damage he could do in such a short time. It was only when he was forced to stop to reload that heroes at the scene were able to overpower him, and stop the carnage. Had the gun clip held fewer rounds, the damage would have been reduced. Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy of New York, someone who lost her own husband to gun violence in 1993, is introducing sensible legislation to help prevent another tragedy. The legislation would reinstate a ban on high-capacity magazines. Over in the Senate, Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey is working on parallel legislation to accomplish the same end." Tell the GOP: "Repeal your own health care, hypocrites!"

For 2 years, GOP leaders in Congress fought tooth and nail to oppose health care reform. They did their best to keep tens of millions without coverage, decrying any effort to help citizens as "socialist," "fascist" or some other equally baffling "ist." And incredibly, they are now talking about repealing it. And yet, when it comes to their own coverage, Republicans in Congress are not only using government-sponsored health care, they are whining about having to wait for it. Well, four brave members of Congress are calling GOP leaders on their hypocrisy, demanding they practice what they preach, and calling on them to give up their government-sponsored health care:
