Tell Michele Bachmann: Apologize for your McCarthyist Smear of Huma Abedin

Michele Bachmann has a long history of outrageous behavior, but this latest action has even drawn the condemnation of fellow Republicans. In an attack straight out of the playbook of Joseph McCarthy, Bachmann has launched an investigation into whether the Muslim Brotherhood has "infiltrated" the US government and singled out long-time Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin as an example.

Bachmann's assertions have been denounced by John McCain, John Boehner, and a host of others.

While it's tempting to laugh off Bachmann altogether, her targets do not have that luxury. Huma Abedin was born in America, and has served her country admirably and honorably, as John McCain pointed out on the Senate floor. But now, her name has been smeared by a powerful member of Congress with a national audience.

Bachmann needs to apologize. And we need to keep up the pressure on her until she does.
